Standards and Compliance
Learn how AS 2214 connects to the broader network of Australian and international welding standards.
Explore AS 1554, AS ISO 3834, AS ISO 9606, and other key references that define quality, safety, and qualification expectations.
You’ll understand how these standards integrate into workshop procedures, supervision duties, and documentation systems.
Welding Basics
Refresh or build your foundation in welding processes, safety, and terminology.
Cover the essentials of MMAW (stick), GMAW (MIG), and GTAW (TIG) processes, welding symbols, joint types, and weld positions.
Emphasis is placed on PPE, heat management, and correct application of safety protocols in line with the WHS Act and AS 1674.
Science of Welding
Discover what happens to metals during welding — from heat flow and solidification to grain structure and stress.
This module explains how metallurgical changes influence weld strength, distortion, and defect formation.
You’ll also explore key calculations and testing methods that help ensure consistent weld integrity.
Legality & WHS Responsibilities
Understand your legal duties as a welding supervisor under Australian Work Health and Safety legislation.
Examine case studies and real-world compliance issues, including documentation, risk management, and the role of the supervisor in maintaining a safe welding environment.
Learn how to demonstrate due diligence and prevent incidents before they occur.
Examination & Inspection
Learn how to inspect and evaluate welded joints using visual and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods.
Cover common discontinuities, acceptance criteria, and the selection and coordination of NDT techniques such as magnetic particle, ultrasonic, radiographic, and penetrant testing.
The module also introduces destructive and mechanical testing for validating weld strength and performance.
Thermal & Metallurgical Effects of Welding
Understand how heat input, arc energy, and cooling rates affect weld quality, distortion, and residual stress.
Learn how to control heat treatment, preheat, and post-weld processes to reduce cracking and improve durability.
This module links metallurgical principles to practical field supervision and quality outcomes.
Supervision in Practice
Apply your technical knowledge in realistic job scenarios. Learn how to plan welding operations, sequence tasks efficiently, manage teams, and document inspections.
This module integrates productivity, quality, and compliance — showing how supervisors create consistent, audit-ready outcomes in real fabrication environments.
Audit Readiness & Documentation
Learn how to prepare for external or client audits with confidence.
Understand how to maintain traceability, create weld maps, manage calibration and welder continuity records, and compile Manufacturer Data Reports (MDRs).
You’ll finish this module ready to demonstrate welding compliance under AS ISO 3834 and AS 5131.
