At AWS Centre of Excellence (AWS CE), we’ve developed a structured Welding Supervisor Pathway designed around what industry actually needs — not just what’s written on paper but a Practical, Industry-Aligned Pathway

welding supervisor training pathway

Step 1: AS 2214 Welding Supervisor

Start with the fundamentals that matter in the real world:

  • Welding standards and compliance
  • Inspection and quality requirements
  • Practical supervision responsibilities
  • Real-world application

This course builds the essential foundation often missing from traditional pathways.

Step 2: Certificate 10 Welding Supervisor (AS 1796 Pathway)

Progress into the Certificate 10 pathway, aligned to industry and employer expectations.

Entry Requirements:
  • Completion of AWS CE AS 2214, or
  • Demonstrated equivalent knowledge and experience

This ensures every candidate is prepared to:

  • Successfully complete the course
  • Perform effectively in real workplace environments
  • Meet industry expectations

Why AWS CE Is Different

We don’t just deliver training — we build job-ready capability.

Through our work in Pre-Employment Assessment (PEA) of welders, we consistently see a gap between:

👉 Formal qualifications
👉 Real-world readiness

Our pathway is specifically designed to bridge that gap.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need AS 2214 before Certificate 10?

Yes — unless you can demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience.

Is AS 2214 Nationally Accredited training?

No. It’s Industry Recognised training designed to build the critical foundation needed for supervision roles.  Industry Recognised training is designed to provide job opportunities.

AWS CE is a Registered Training Organisation, so it can also provide a range of Nationally Accredited training if that’s your career preference.

Why is AS 2214 required first?

Because industry consistently shows that foundational knowledge is often missing — and that leads to poor outcomes in both training and the workplace.

What if I already have experience?

You may still be eligible. AWS CE will assess your experience and prior learning.
